Slim Your Arms with Liposonix (Review)

2/10/2016

Slimming your arms or spot reduction is not easy, and for me, I have been battling big "bye bye" arms for the longest of time - I don't remember having skinny arms at all. In fact, I have tried many different methods, including exercise, to try to slim my arms down. Cream, mesotherapy, you name it, I have probably tried it.

So what prompted me to try Liposonix? I was in despair and wanted to try cool sculpting as I had read about how effective it is. I went to EHA Clinic and was so lucky to have met Dr Elias Tam. Dr Elias Tam was my consulting doctor and he mentioned that cool sculpting would not work on my arms as my arms were too big to fit properly into the applicator and I should opt for Liposonix instead, which will "melt" the fat away with ultrasound and if I felt that my arms were still too big, I could later use cool sculpting. There's a page on his site that tells you more about these two procedures.

So what is Doctor Elias Tam from EHA Clinic doing to my arm?

It is $300 per square for the treatment, and right here, he is marking the number of squares needed for each arm.

I was intrigued and asked a lot of questions about the treatment, unsure of what to expect. His Liposonix machine is the original, and the ultrasound energy emitted is far higher than that of what slimming centers use, hence the need for precises squares.

According to Dr Elias Tam, the Liposonix system uses high-intensity focused ultrasound energy to destroy targeted subcutaneous fat and deliver uniform, predictable results after a  quick one hour treatment.

What was important to me was actually how fast the results would be. It would take 8 - 12 weeks in order for the arms to actually be slimmer, as that is the time taken for our body to process the treated fat and remove it from our system naturally.

How Does Liposonix Work?

LipoSonix uses a special technology termed as High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) to cause the death of fat cells safely and very effectively. Focusing the ultrasound energy of LipoSonix about 1-2 cm below the surface of the skin, the fat cells under the skin is "burned" away. Focusing the energy below the surface of the skin helps to avoid burns or trauma to the skin and this also makes the treatment more comfortable.

However, it is very common to see bruises form on the same day or a few days after, and some may feel pain during the treatment.

Who can adpot the Liposonix Treatment for slimming

According to the site, Liposonix is suitable for the following patients who:
  1. Are able to "pinch-an-inch" (2.5 cm) of fat in the treatment area.
  2. Have a body mass index (BMI) equal to or less than 30.Don't know your BMI? Calculate Now! >
  3. Have good overall health
  4. Have realistic expectations about the results

How Fast Are Liposonix Treatment Results?

It varies from person to person, but according to Dr Elias Tam, you usually see results from 1 - 3months time.

The original Liposonix Machine can work on any part of your body that has at least 2.5cm of fat in that area.

I felt like I was really going through an operation.
Right after the treatment, my arms were both sore, but bearable.

The Verdict

So is the treatment effective? I went for the treatment on the 28th of January 2016. I had a lot of bruises after, and that, while painful, was bearable. I had bruises all over my arms the next day and they finally disappeared on the 10th of Feb 2016.

Right now, my arms look smaller, the fatty tissues seem softer and I am looking forward to 29th of Feb 2016 where I would go back to EHA Clinic for a checkup and measurement.

I was impressed with the staff at EHA too, the next day I received a text and they checked if I was feeling alright after the treatment, and if there was any pain.

My entire treatment cost $3000 for 10 squares, including GST, and if you have been thinking of  getting rid of your beer belly or slimming your arms, EHA Clinic is highly suggested. Dr Elias Tam lectures around the world about aesthetic procedures and he is extremely experienced. Most doctors might just do coolsculpting for me even if it doesn't work as my arms are too big at the moment to fit into the applicator, but Dr Elias Tam was frank, straightforward and honest.

I think honesty from a Doctor is absolutely important, and the fact that he did a proper consultation and diagnosis of the type of fat in my arms was definitely reassuring.

I also embarked on the Indiba Slimming Program for the treatment of stubborn fat at the tummy area, but that would be in another post, do stay tuned!

Hi Vivien! Thank you for posting all the photos as well as the video. The process doesn't look painful at all. It seems like the pain is tolerable unlike other treatments. I personally want to try this out!
