I was really excited when I realized I can actually surf while flying! My last experience with this was in SQ, but at that time, (like more than 10 years back) the wifi connection was slow and lagged so much I was more frustrated than delighted.

So what are the results like? Being a techie, I did a speed test immediately to find out how fast my connection is.

Was a tad bit disappointed at first, but we must have been flying through a patch of poor signal, because when I pressed the Test button again, it worked!

Ping worked, which means that I am able to reach the servers!

Download speed is decent, but how about the upload speed? Upload speed is kind of important for my as I am updated the blog post now, while on Scoot's Boeieng 787 Dreamliner. What an apt name!

Tada! The results are back! While the speeds are decent, don't expect blazing fast. This is very much like a 3G connection, enough to surf by, enough to even watch videos with, but a tad bit laggy.

I am happy though, as this is light years from my last connection to the Internet while flying!

Happiness! Wifi for one hour is 11.95usd for one hour, 16.95usd for three and 21.95usd for 24 hours. This is definitely useful on a longer flight, and more worthwhile too. It's a pity I am flying from Bangkok to Singapore, which is only for 2 hours!

This post was done entirely on an iphone, and on board of the scoot flight which allowed me internet access in the air!
