I downloaded the app really quickly and though it is $2.99, it is well worth it! It is also fairly sized, but it took about 2 mins to get fully loaded on my phone, using a 3G connection. This is THE month I challenge myself and start taking public transport! Armed with an iphone5, I roam the streets ... And promptly got lost!

Usually, I would either take a cab or my kind friends who are driving will pick me up, so public transport like buses and mrt is a little confusing for me.

I went for a half an performance ( yes, I perform, and I was a storyteller at the Tampines Regional Library today for POSB's roadshow. ) today and decided to take a bus back home since I was not doing anything much after the show.

I have never been there before, how am I getting home without taking the taxi? ( I took a Taxi there as I wasn't confident in being able to find the place in time. )

Gothere.sg was the site I went to before finding their amazing iphone app, Gothere.sg.

It has actually 5 options, after you find the place you want to go to. (Secret Tip: Touch the taxi Icon and it changes to UBER ( the latest, fastest way to get around if you don't mind paying for service and quality. )

You can see the different modes of transport listed after you the first screen. But first things first, choose your destination. Don't worry of you don't know where you are at the moment, this app will find you! It's "Current Location" option is pretty accurate.

Today, I went to Tampines Library via cab, and since I had time, decided to explore gothere.sg for an alternative mode of transport. It's prediction of the taxi fare was just slightly higher than what I actually paid, and that's because the Taxi driver dropped me a distance away from the Library and I had to walk over.

However, going back home with the app was a BREEZE! With it's clear instructions on where to board as well as how many bus stops away I should drop was really useful. I wasn't sure if the bus I boarded will really take me to the Bedok Interchange, as I have never taken it before, but it did! 

Fantastic instructions made the next part easy too, finding and boarding the next bus was EASY, and knowing where to drop off, I stopped counting bus stops...and starting taking photos instead!

If you are opting for the self-drive or taxi option, it will give you the step by step or rather road by road guide, however, don't expect this app to talk, because it doesn't. I've also uploaded some screen shots so you get a better idea of what this app can do before you purchase it as well.

Gothere.sg Application Walkthrough

Firstly, Click on Directions ( or search if you want to, but directions will be the most direct. )

Key in your location, or like what I did because I didn't know where I was, "Current Location".

Then key in your location, it recognizes postal codes as well as names of buildings and places.

You will see the first screen with four options, but actually, there is a secret 5th option which I will be sharing with you later. The second screen shows you the bus option, third the train option, 4th if you are cabbing and 5th if you are driving yourself. Click on the photos to make them larger, so you can get a clearer picture. I know you see a lot more options on each screen, like route, map and even parking, so I will show you what each does in a bit.

If you click on the options within Drive, you get routes, parking and even a map to show you exactly which route you should be taking. You can also decide if the option you have chosen is really the shortest or fastest route.

For the options within the taxi option, you get to book a cab really quickly, or if you want to use Uber ( Sign up now for a free $10 credit to your account ), this is the time to do so! Press on the Taxi icon to change it to Uber first, then check out the rates! The route is the same but the price is startlingly different.

My Favourite Parts!
One really interesting thing to note is that if you were to choose Options, you can decide when to leave, and the relevant ERPs are calculated for you as well. You can choose the best time to leave or if you have to leave at that time, the best route to minimize ERP.


Click Browse and you get a whole list of amenities, even the atms are shown! Never be lost without an atm again! Or for that matter, petrol kiosks too. Attractions list is surprisingly empty though, so I guess we will have to wait for the next update to this app for more attractions and parks to appear.

I've had alot more fun since this review, exploring places and saving loads because of this application. If you live or work in Singapore, this application is a MUST HAVE! I wish I get commission for promoting them, but no I don't, and this is one application that I can't do without, now that I have found it.
